The 2009 GMC Yukon – Large Space And Comfort, All In A Full Size SUV
The 2009 GMC Yukon maintains the same exterior design as previous models after 2007. The Yukon for this model year has only seen several changes since the 2007 model, and mostly shares qualities with other SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe.
The luxury version of the 2009 Yukon is the Denali. With it comes plenty of luxury features that make it unlike the base model, including the powertrain. The GMC Yukon Hybrid is capable of an impressive 21 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway, without little decrease in performance. It may not appear to be much, but what other commercially sold SUVs have shown to generate such fuel economy?
Base model 2009 Yukons sit on a 116 Inch wheelbase, and has an overall length of 202 Inches. The engine that comes along with the Base model Yukon is a 4.8 Liter (with 295 horsepower), a 5.3 Liter (with 310-320 horsepower), or a 6.0 Liter (352 horsepower) V8 engine. In addition to the engine, comes a standard 6 Speed automatic transmission, which includes the option of rear 2-wheel, or 4-wheel drive. Each of the engines are capable of allowing easy operation of the Yukon regardless of passenger or load size. Above all, these engines offer a fuel economy of 14 miles per gallon in the city, to 20 on the highway.
The XL Yukon
The XL Yukon however, is even larger; coming with a wheelbase extended by 14 Inches, and an overall length increase by 20 Inches. The XL model makes the need for more room in an SUV more than disappear. The vehicle is so large that if you have any concern over parking you should not look into purchasing the XL model. The Yukon XL comes with a 6.0 Liter engine, specially designed for the model, and is designed to handle the toughest of towing demands. Although the added size and power are something one may want in an SUV, the mileage will suffer drastically.
There are several different seating layouts that are offered within the 2009 GMC Yukon. The front seats are well-sized and very supportive to their occupants, and allow the driver to see and view the road with ease. Both the two front rows are capable of a “bench” or “bucket” seat option. The third row of seats comes standard with the XL Yukon model, but are available to the Base model Yukons. The third row can be removed in either the Base or XL models, and allows the occupants all of the storage and cargo space imaginable in a full-size SUV
